The alpha state is not sleep, nor a trance in any mystical sense. It is a natural brain rhythm.

Brain rhythms

When we are relaxed yet attentive, the brain shifts into the alpha rhythm (8–12 Hz). In this state the conscious mind's control loosens — and we gain access to the images, memories and metaphors of the subconscious.

Why it works

This is where the subconscious shows where the solution is hidden. I don't find it — you see it yourself. My role is to be a guide and to hold the space safe.
