The body remembers what the mind explained long ago.

In 1924, German psychiatrist Hans Berger first recorded the electrical activity of the human brain, and described rhythmic oscillations in the 8 to 12 Hz range, which appear in a person in a state of calm wakefulness with closed eyes (Berger, 1924). The alpha state, this is a measurable physiological pattern of brain activity (Berger, 1924), and alpha practice, a method of consciously entering it through breath and bodily contact.

Over twenty five years of practice, I see the same thing again and again: it is precisely in the alpha rhythm that connection with your true self happens. Not with the version of yourself that you show the world. Not with the one that copes, smiles, keeps a brave face. But with the one, alive, who once got scared, felt pain, was left alone with something too hard to survive in that moment.

Why does trauma stay in the body?

In a moment of intense fear or pain, there is no time to think. The brain does not sit down to analyze the situation. It reacts instantly, through the body: heart, breath, muscles. This is built in by nature for survival, not understanding.

If, in that moment, there was no one nearby to help live through it, to hold you, to calm you, to say "I am here," the response does not complete. It gets stuck, not as a memory that can simply be recounted, but as an imprint in the body: in the muscles, in the breath, in the way a person tenses when something distantly recalls that situation.

Allan Schore, one of the leading researchers in the neurobiology of attachment, shows this: emotional regulation forms not through words, but through bodily contact. Starting in early childhood. That same body then holds, for years, what was never put into words.

This is why an ordinary conversation, "tell me what happened," often does not reach the core. The mind can recount the story calmly, even with a smile, while the body in that moment is still there, in that moment. This is exactly why it matters to reach the place where you can speak with the body directly, not through analysis, but through contact. And this is the alpha state.

General practices and individual work. What is the difference?

Practices come in very different forms.

There are general practices. There is nothing wrong with them. They bring a person into a particular state: calm, or, on the other hand, a surge of strength. This is good, this is needed, this helps a person live.

And there is individual work. By personal request, with a specific history, with a specific body. Here the work goes to a different depth: we go back, into memories, we open a door, and behind it, another, and another. To where this particular story lives, these particular experiences. Not general, not typical. This is exactly why individual work can process blocks and release energy to a depth that general practices simply cannot reach. They do not go there, into the depth of a specific story.

The psycho emotional energetic framework.

Over years of practice, I see: blocks do not live in one place. They form in the psyche and in the body at the same time, weaving together into what I call the psycho emotional energetic framework. This is not a metaphor for effect. This is what actually holds a person, for years, in the same scenario.

It is important to say honestly: forgiveness practices, awareness practices, alone are not enough to loosen this framework. Forgiveness, awareness, these are already the second step. Before them comes the first, the one almost no one talks about: trust. Trust in your own voice, in that quiet inner knowing that a person has grown used to silencing over the years, because it once felt safer that way.

The path cannot move along the surface, through the mind alone. It has to move through everything at once: through awareness, the body, the psyche. Otherwise, one part pulls back what was changed in another.

What happens specifically in an alpha practice?

It is precisely in alpha practices that the psyche receives permission to be freed. Control is released. The possibility opens to go deeper than the daytime, all controlling mind usually allows.

Alpha practices open the path to the contract. To that very decision a person once made about themselves and about the world. And then hid so deeply that they forgot it themselves. And only then, in contact, with true empathic precision, in session, does what all of this is for become possible: to dissolve the contract itself. Completely, and for good.
