What an ancestral contract is

An ancestral contract is a subconscious agreement we make in childhood, often to protect a loved one or to "save" the lineage. We take on pain that isn't ours, without realising it.

Why it's so hard to notice

The contract becomes part of our identity. We think, "that's just who I am." In reality it's a role we once agreed to play.
